Group Sewing Day

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!!  We finally got the sun back today...it has rained for the past week or more. I got together today with 4 of my sewing buddies, and we each put a quilt top together. It was a real blast!!!!  MarlaConnie, Judy, Rose and myself.  I have known these girls most of my life; and it is so nice to get together with them with the same interests.

I would love to show you my quilt top right now; but we are meeting again mid week to put borders on them. So, when we take pictures of all of the quilts....then I'll post them for you to see. We all did the same pattern in totally different colors, and what a variety....So; before too long, we will have a nice little quilt show for you.

Tomorrow I hope to get out in the Solstice for a nice sunny drive. Time for my little convertible is coming to an end quickly. Next week I will be really busy preparing for our annual community turkey supper. We serve about 600 people between 3 and 7pm. It is a lot of work, but a lot of fun too.!!!!

September Finishes

The month is almost over!!  I have made it to my goal this month also....finished is the strip quilt I was hand quilting and the Log Cabin is finished too. I am 3/4 through the 3rd one, but that was not set for a goal this month.

This lady owns both of these quilts..

Let's Twist To The 60s With Batiks

Well folks; Madame Samm and Mary have come up with this fantastic idea to have this retro blog hop.
A huge thanks goes out to them...and our sponsors because this has been so much fun!!!!!

I made one piece for this time around, and I hope you enjoy seeing it....
I made a swing bag with flowers made from Batiks...cut out with the GoBaby.
I took 60s pictures from on line and printed them on printable fabric, and appliqued to the bag.
One side of the bag....

                                                      the straps....
                                                     close up....
other side of bag....

Now; are you ready for the next pics??

I still have the long straight hair..though it used to be longer.....and the rawhide vest....rawhide choker; that you can't really see...lol
Mini skirt...not the headband I would have wore then, but you get the idea....right?????

Not sure you know; but I was in high school at the end of the 60s; graduated in 71. It was a fantastic decade..And I didn't even get into the wacky tabaccy!!!!!!  Even though it looks like I did for these pics...lol.

Now after those pictures; you deserve a giveaway!!!! I have 2 FQs for one winner...just leave a comment.

This solid fabric is actually a deep purple.......

WIP Wednesday

Ok; summer is gone...but there is still lots of yard work to do!!  The garden needs to be finished up and the grass is still growing, but it is cool at nights!

On to my WIPs.....I have way too much quilting to do; but I love it.
I finished the Log Cabin quilt Monday evening.....

Not the best color in the first picture....here is another....

That leaves 2 quilt tops waiting in my sewing room now to be hand quilted before Christmas.  Now; with that said, I picked up some cross stitched blocks today from a customer...I will  piece the quilt top for her...add sashings and a scalloped border; then quilt it.
I have 2 more arriving sometime in the next month to be hand quilted...don't know what they are yet.
I have the next Log Cabin in the frames...put it in tonight after mowing 1/2 the lawns...Hopefully will finish mowing tomorrow night. Can't mow in the daytime this week; hubby is working nights; so sleeping/or trying to during the day.
I am ready for the 'wool' and 'batiks' blog hops which are coming up right away!!
And I still have 5 quilt tops of my own to quilt one day. lol.

I am linking up to Monika..

Oh I am so very excited to be here today!!!!!!  I have been waiting for this hop to get started, and today is my day!!!! I have to say I had more fun with this one than I ever expected I would; it was a blast!!

I want to throw a huge thank you out there to our fantastic, hard working Madame Samm.and to Kristen for leading us in this hop; and our wonderful sponsors.

My first pin cushion is a very simple one; it is a little batt wrapped with fabric and set in this little pitcher.....so very simple.

The second one is a strawberry ice-cream...lol.  very easy again!

Now; the next one I found on line....it just simply made me grin from ear to ear when I saw it...lol

This is called over-ly easy...and it is just that!!  I used a piece of white felt with the yellow felt appliqued on top; stuffed a bit....isn't that the cutest smile ever????

And last, but not least..........I couldn't resist this one.

My biggest problem with this one was getting that bun to stay down in the middle....lol
Anyone for breakfast?

And this is one that I made with my sewing buddies last winter...

I hope you had fun with my pin cushions...now make sure to visit the rest of the participants today.
