Well, it is certainly a snow day here today, but not as much as forecast. Lots of drifting and winds though. Still have our power...so all is good!'!!!

This week I am hand quilting this quilt that I pieced this time last year...Churn Dash

This only measures 60 across....so I plan to add a couple of borders yet.

I pulled fabrics today to start a custom order for this pattern...

So.....I guess I am still plugging away here.  Hope you come back to see more another day.

WIP Wednesday

Hello folks....It is Tuesday evening and I had a super day.  I got to sew for most of the day plus had tea with Connie and Marla this afternoon.  And the weather was pretty decent too!!

So...WIPs for this week are very few..lol.  I bound the Oh Gee quilt that I showed you last week.

I have a customer quilt on the Tiara, but no pics yet.  I am piecing an interesting quilt now. it is a kit from Connecting Threads...Prints on Point.

One set of blocks...there are 12 of these.

6 of these blocks...still have to appliqué 2 of them.

the pattern.....I love Connecting Threads.  I will add a little more border to make this bigger.

2015 FMQ Challenge/January

Well, it has been awhile  since I took this challenge...2012 I did this with Sewcalgal, and now again.

This is one of the best ways to try new adventures with your machine quilting. Most of you know that I am a long time hand quilter trying my hand at FMQ.  This time around, we were given 3 options that we could use. I decided to use 2 of them in the one pillow. 

I used the method that France's Moore showed us in the 2012 challenge.....

And the method shown by LuAnn Kessi for this years challenge...the feathered heart.

I wish I had thought to take pictures during the process, but you know me...I didnt...lol. 

So...here is my version of this heart pillow.

Here you can see the leaf with the swirl....

Now, if I were to do this again...I would take more time and fill the background in more densely.

But you know what I did???  I sat down to get a start ,ok??  Lol. I traced the heart outline...then stitched it. then I drew the spines freehand...stitched and couldn't stop!   Every few minutes I said to myself....just a little more.  Well, we all know what happened to that idea, eh.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The feathers are completely freehand...no tracing.

My quilting is far from perfect, but I am so very happy with this.

WIP Wednesday

This week I finished hand quilting Marla's quilt... Rose Garden.

This was very nice to work at ..as she did nice piecing. I taught her everything she knows!!!! Lol

I couldn't resist....but I'm lying.  Lol

I also finished machine quilting this one today...a kit from Connecting .threads..called Oh Gee.

Now a peek at the back, where you can see the quilting.

This is my first try at ruler work...the versa tool. I like it so far...

I have my FMQ Challenge project ready to post and will do that in a few days..I am quite happy with it. 

This afternoon I starting cutting pieces for my next quilt ...called Prints on Point. I'll have something to show you next time.

The sewing buddies and myself got together yesterday to gossip and have some laughs. Not much work was done, but Judy got w new sewing machine for Christmas and we got to look it all over and it is wonderful.

This quilt measures roughly 68x90....and is called Rose Garden, I believe.

Now, on the the next one.  It was very nice to quilt and was pieced really nicely.

I need to get my quilt that is on the Tiara finished...maybe tomorrow????

I am just getting back into the swing of sewing and quilting here.  We had a very nice Christmas and a great New Year.  Right now I have this one in the frames and am hand quilting it. 

This is Marla's quilt and she hasn't seen the quilting yet....so only a peek folks!!!

Besides this quilt I have this one on Tiara....started quilting it today.

I just finished my first project for this years FMQ Challenge with Quiltshopgal....better known as Sewcalgal. Can't show you this right now, I wil write a separate post soon, and her button is on my blog page if you want to join us.
