Well I finished the Snowball quilt this morning....I had to finish it before I went out to the garden. So an hour of quilting right after breakfast; then picked carrots, then mowed the lawns. After lunch got the carrots blanched and in the freezer for winter...still a bit more of them to do next week.

Then this afternoon I finished the Sew Intertwined quilt....I love it!! I want to make it bigger, but not sure just yet. I have to make sure there is enough fabric before tackling that one. So; here they both are.................

Off to the beach garden, lawns or quilt for a day!!!!
Have a great weekend folks.

August Free Motion Quilting Challenge

I am here again at the last minute with my samples for the month. I think this month`s challenge would make a great quilting pattern; once I got it down.  I am my own worst enemy when it comes to FMQ.  I have to practice more than I am doing right now!!!! But here are my samples for this month.,

This was the first try; done with Essential Threads from Connecting Thread...worked great, but the Jesters Hat looks more like horns to me!!! This was done on the Baby Lock with needle down and speed control...

This was done with YLI thread and worked great as always...done on the Singer with no needle down or speed control...I went wild!!!!lol meaning out of control...

I want to thank Darlene from SewCalGal; and Wendy Sheppard for a great tutorial..This would be a very fun pattern to do. and I will be doing it again....

WIP Wednesday

What a busy week this has been!!  I finally finished picking peas and beans for this year...but I love doing it. It just interferes with my sewing  Now; for works in progress this week:

I am working on the RTQAL...latest block:

I am working on the Sew Intertwined QAL...latest set of blocks in progress:

I am hand quilting this Snowball quilt:  This is antique(or maybe just old)

There is an interesting story behind this quilt. My husband's grandmother pieced this by hand. She has been gone for over 40 years now. One of her daughters passed it down to one of her daughter-in-laws, because she knew this one would take care of it.  She happens to be a fairly new customer of mine. She just recently realized that I quilt for others; so.....yes; I am hand quilting this for her.
Now it is frail...and has some yellowing on it, but overall it is decent shape.

Now is it some coincidence that it has come around like this or what????  When I finish this one; she has a king size Log Cabin for me to is

That is it for me for this week folks...I am linking up to Monika and Rebecca; please join us.

Sew Intertwined QAL

We are coming right along with our quilt!!!!  I was really quite nervous when I first read the tutorial for this block. It just seemed so very complicated; but, it has gone well....I did one block earlier today; between garden has done so well this year. I am feeding my whole family and their;which is nice. Love to see the vegie grow so well.  Here are the blocks up to date for this QAL:

First is the center Dresden:

Next the the Outside Blocks: 20 of these

Now the Intertwined Block:12 of these(only 1 done so far)
There are 3 or 4 different colour schemes for this block....forgot right

I need to get these done this week; then we will be setting things together. This block is a bit tedious; but went together well. I should have had starch in the house, but didn't. I think that is why I got a little stretch in it....but I will either get some; or be careful.  Pleased with this so far.

RTQAL mishap

Well Em; if you are reading laughing!!!! This block went together so easily and I can't believe how I messed it up. Now I have to make another

All this was; was HSTs put together to form squares...then put the rows together. I was in a huge hurry; not thinking you know!!  I forgot to square up my little squares and the block is way too big.
So; back to the sewing room; I'll save this for a pillow of something....gosh; can't believe it!!

So this block will be done some day next week.

Bowls with Borders Blog Hop ! and Giveaway!

Wow!!!  The day is finally here, and I am one of the first day participants. I feel so lucky and privileged to be here among the rest of these folks. I sure hope you all enjoy this hop!!LINK here for Complete Schedule

First off; I want to thank Madame Samm and Carol over at  Just Let Me Quilt for getting this together. And we can't forget Regina for letting us have her pattern. Love these ladies, don't we????

I am not used to paper piecing; so it was a bit of a challenge for me to do these bowls.  But I did manage to get it  I decided to make a table runner with my bowls. I used scraps from my stash; so each bowl is different. I FMQ it with Essential thread from Connecting Threads. And that I'm not good at but did it anyway. There are a few little appliques to fill in empty spaces...  So; here is my contribution to 'Bowls with Borders'.

This is the full view of the table is showing it in sections up closer.

and a little peek at the back...

Now; I did mention a giveaway didn't I.  Here it is....Sassy for Moda Charm Pack.
