Road Trip QAL/ South Dakota

This is block #9....moving right along with this QAL. I used a fabric from my Amy Butler Solids and the red print is from Summer House.  But I stole the green polka dot from Happy Camper for Moda. I just didn't have anything in Summer House large enough for this block....I love it!!!!!!!!!

You may have noticed that the floral print in my last block was different too....not sure what line; from my stash. This block took a bit of time; small piecing, but was very nice to work with.  Em's directions were great! Did I tell you I love it???? lol.

It is one hot day here.....today is my 29th birthday....again. Going out for supper with my handsome man!!!

Sew Intertwined QAL

I got the center piece put together tonight for the Sew Intertwined QAL. I really really like it!!  lol

I chose to do it without the diamond going through the center because I didn't want to take the chance on running out of  fabric; not great with the paper piecing...so. If; in the end; I have enough fabric, I may try it the other way and see which I like best then.

WIP Wednesday

Here we are again....summer always seems to fly by; doesn't it.  This week I am getting back into the groove of things...healing body and quilting more every day.  Which is a good thing because I have 4 quilts besides the one in the frames waiting for me!!

So; WIPs:  1/2 way through the machine embroidered quilt

                   another block finished for the RTQAL

                   project for 'Bowls with Borders' getting there

                   joined the 'Intertwined QAL'(I know!!)..lol

I would so love to join the Groovy Curve one too; but don't dare take on another right now.  It looks like fun too.

Minnesota!!. RTQAL #8

Wow!! we are half way through the Road Trip QAL...hard to imagine that.  This block was very easy to put together.  And I do like it!!

Well I had another session of physio this morning; coming right along. Pain is gone..still quite sore in the ribs; but it is healing.  I can sit a little longer to quilt now; so that's a good thing!!

I also got mail today! You know that kind of mail that makes you want to run to the house and tear open.

I won the April draw for the FMQ Challenge over at SewCalGal. Today I received part of the prize.  I didn't take a picture...sorry.  In the mail today I go the Machinger gloves and the DVD on machine bindings.

Am anxious to get the time to have a better look....I am still waiting for the Aurifil Thread and the Sewslip...sure it will be along soon.  Such lovely gifts; I am thrilled to death with it.

FMQ Challenge 2012

This month's challenge was a very interesting; and I thought a simple one. Wrong again!! lol. Angela gave us a very nice detailed tutorial for tiling a quilt..It looked magnificent when she did it...Anyway; enough of my joking around. I did a small practice piece...but I can't sit long enough at the machine right now to do more for this month; so it is far from perfect. But all of mine were..lol. I will definitely try this again; and take more time to plan ahead.  I really think tiling would be easy enough if I planned something instead of just sitting and going at it!!  I found myself in spots that I couldn't get out of the way I was suppose to. So; for this month this is it for me...but I really want to thank Angela and Darlene for taking their time to put this together for all of us.  And one day my work will look just like Angelas......right????? haha.  I am having a great time with it, and will practice much more down the road...when I can sit longer.....

WIP Wednesday!!!!!

This is a week that I never expected....car accident....not getting much sewing done at all....I can't sit long enough to do it.  But things are coming along as far as the sore body. And they are going to repair my car; so all is good now.  On to WIPs: lol  not much to show....sorry.

This is Iowa....for the Road Trip QAL.....I actually like my colours. You all know how I have hated some of my blocks this time....I'll get over it.lol

The commissioned quilt: I have managed to hand quilt some this week; not like I should have.
Besides this work; I have 4 quilt tops waiting to be handquilted...

And I have a nice amount done on the 'Bowls with Borders'....no sneak peeks yet....lol.Keep watching for this blog hop in August....it is a fun one.

Road Trip QAL/ Iowa

Today I got up so early for me; just couldn't sleep because it hurts to turn over....lol. Not really funny, but I might as well laugh about it...on here it doesn't hurt.  So I managed to get the latest block put together. And; now get this; I even like it. I am getting the nack for paper piecing finally.

I am off to meet with therepist for physio after lunch today. Fingers crossed; this works.

The end of the Week

I am so glad this week is over....it has been the worst ever I think for me.  Being rear ended has made me very very sore to start with, and bitter.  I don't like the way I am felling right now. That is why I am venting....hope you don't mind.  I've been alone this week; husband is working out of town. First time in a number of years for that...and this has to happen.  I'm left to deal with the driver, the RCMP, paramedics, doctors,  insurance agents....body shop guys who are tearing my baby apart right now to see it is able to be fixed.  I hate this!!!!

One minute I 'm having a wonderful sunny drive in my little convertible.  The next second, I look in my mirror and this huge van is about to ram me from behind while I am stopped waiting for the car ahead of me to turn off the road.  It was a hit that I never want to feel again....I hurt all over and all these people are just worried about money.....but I guess that is how it is.  I am lucky to be alive!!!

Now that I got that off my very sore chest...lol; I entered a quilt in the weekly theme contest. I hope you will take a look and maybe vote for my quilt....only if you like it. Thanks for listening...reading....lol

WIP Wednesday

Another Wednesday already, is it just when you get older that the time flies by???  I have been so busy this past week. Not just with sewing, but yard work and  quilt show....no end to it....love it!!!

Love the Mailman!!....and RTQAL Block#6

As you know; I had a nice little win just a short time ago from Lorelei...well it arrived from The Intrepid Thread today!! I love these little parcels, don't you??

Now I just have to get on with all my projects so that I can do something sweet with this!!

I also managed to get Illinois put together today.  I am liking this one!!...just noticed I didn't trim the edges off...have to go do that before I forget....lol.

Finished!!!!

Hey folks...Friday again, and raining a bit here...we have had a good mix of weather so far this summer....hot days that I love and enough rain to save my gardens....lol.  Isn't it wonderful

I finished the twin size commissioned quilt!!!  It is mainly quilted with geometric shapes in the sashings and borders.  I quilted around the cartoon figures and a bit of the background.  This was a very easy little project.


Now before I leave you....I want to show you a glimpse of what I am putting in the quilt frames today; to be hand quilted....I simply love this quilt!!!

This is machine embroidered....it is just gorgeous!!

I have to tell you; tomorrow is our 39th Wedding Anniversary. I can't believe so much time has gone by.  Family all grown up and gone....oh gosh, I'm depressing myself now...lol.  Not really; it has been 39 wonderfully happy years. Have a great family to show for it.  Now I have to go change my profile a bit...lol

WIP Wednesday

Wow!!! With the holiday weekend, I was still thinking it was Tuesday...lol.  But here we are again...another WIP; and this one is pretty good...I have been on the go here.

I finished the Hunter Star: some of you might have seen in in my TGIFF post on Friday

I finished quilting a baby quilt made by a lady...quilted by me

I am just past 1/2 way quilting a twin size quilt for the same lady

She will bind these herself....

Today I made a rag baby quilt for the girl that does my nails...not your normal rag quilt. This is made of soft New Brunswick sheets...cut in squares...sewed from corner to corner and then snipped to rag. But this won't fray....not flannel...it is just sooooo soft.

This is the ragged side....as you can see. And it looks much nicer than it does here...hanging over the ironing board...lol

The other side...which is so nice and smooth and soft.
