What we were to do is take strips of scrap fabrics from our stash....had to already be scraps...ok?

so I made use of some from an earlier project.

this is a group of different sized mug rugs....

these are two runners just different lengths.

WIP Wednesday

it is time for me to link up to http://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.com/2014/05/wip-wednesday-143-tn.html.  I seem to have been sewing and quilting non stop the past few days, because it is too cold for anything else!! I can't believe it is the end of May and we are just above 0 here today...crazy!!!

tomorrow things are suppose to start going up, thank heavens. that means planting my peas and mowing the lawns....so let's see what is up for tonight, as I am posting this Tuesday evening.

Let's start with these little pieces... I showed you one last week, but made a second one...

both are quilted and bound now...I like these little pieces.

Next, I finished my pieces for the stroppy challenge , but you will have to go to my next post to see those. they are posted on Wed/28th as well, and there is a link  at Pieced Brain with Denise.

well.... Here is where I am working on it now..can you tell we are close to the center???

No more quilting being shown until it is finished ...LOL. I want Annette to see her quilt before everyone else does....hope you understand.

I have finished piecing the Poppy quilt!!  this is what I showed you last time ....

Not large enough here, so I added a border of sashing strips wrapped in ribbons. And it is really hard to see..so a few pictures of it ahead.

there we are....ribbon borders with different alternating corner blocks.

when Annette's quilt comes out this one goes on.  I have one coming from Alberta mid June to be hand quilted...so lots to do.

Besides these...I have 2 large quilts of my own to machine quilt.

WIP Wednesday

I find it hard to believe that May is coming to a close....where does it go???  we had a beautiful holiday weekend here...sunny and warm. cold and wet today ...what happened?  Lol

Works in progress this time around : I am ready to quilt my "strip challenge" projects.

I have the outside borders ready to put on the poppy quilt..no pics yet.

I finished hand quilting the king size appliqué quilt....yay!!! Here it is...

Isn't it gorgeous!!!!   this quilt belongs to Annette who blogs at Stitches and Seams.  

I have another quilt coming from Alberta in a few weeks to be hand quilted, and a friend has one to be done after that.

this was made as a QAYGQAL with  Amira from Sewing Under Little Mushroom Caps

It was my first time making a quilt using the quilt as you go method...and I love it!

stats:  36"x36"...left over fabrics were used...quilted on my domestic machine

WIP Wednesday

Here we are again!!!   We even have lovely weather this week...I have one flower bed cleaned up!!!!

Ok....quilt talk..LOL   This week is slow going for sewing and quilting.  I am at least 3/4 of the way through the appliqué quilt. This is a king size quilt; so, we are getting there slowly.

The sun is beaming in right now I had to uncover it to get a little peek.

I have more finished on the Poppy quilt...I now have to invent my own borders to make this pattern queen size.

I have a little wall hanging ready to be quilted...have to make more of this one!!

Marla was here yesterday afternoon and started a few of these..they are quick and fun!

I also pieced quite a few items for my "strip quilt" challenge due on the 28th

poppy quilt progress

hey guys...here is where I am with the poppy quilt right now.  these are not good pics...inside there wasn't enough room.  Outside is too windy, so here we go...LOL

this is the end of the poppy quilt pattern, but is only 76" square...so I will make more borders to finish at queen size.

WIP Wednesday

We are finally getting some spring weather!  It was so nice to see the sun today...and get outside for a short time. Yesterday I got together with a few friends for a sewing day.  This  is always so much fun!

We each had our own projects to work on...and accomplished lots; despite the chatting and laughter.

I finished piecing my "Stash Stars" and got a little start on my strip challenge with Denise over at

Today I got a small start on the leaf border of the Poppy quilt.

Now it doesn't look like much...and it isn't.  but a start..LOL

Not great pictures,,,but we had fun. that is my empty seat there with my tea cup!  Connie is giving me THE look...hahaha
