Free Motion Challenge/ May 2015

YQuiltshopgal....http://quiltshopgal.com/2015-free-motion-quilting-challenge-may-challenge-with-cindy-needham/ has been hosting this challenge again this year. We are in our fifth month already, and having fun!!'!

This months expert is Cindy Needham...now she is fantastic! I have taken Cindy's Design it Quilt it class...learned so much. But I am going back to her demo in our 2012 challenge for this one.  it was about dividing and conquering space, which you can see here.....

Create a pillow using the free tutorial from the 2012 FMQ Challenge, by Cindy Needham.  This is a great learning opportunity where you will learn about Cindy’s approach for “divide and conquer”, S-Curve and more.

I took a little differnt approach this time around, though.  I had this swirl design in my head for some reason,and went with that.

I filled the Center swirls in completely...then added a little pebbling and stapling to the sides of the pillow.   love it!!  I didn't try to keep my swirls exactly the same...just flowing and had so much fun with it.

I used Kona Denim and signature gray thread on my Tiara.  Thanks for taking a peek...now please go to the link above and see the gorgeous inventions.

Now I didn't get in on WIPs this week...was just busy.  So, I want to show you that I have finished these...

And, I finished hand quilting a friend's quilt...

I like this...I stuck with the geometric pattern of the quilt when quilting this.

And I have the next little one in and ready to start. This belongs to the same lady.

This is crib size and has pink minky on the back.  Well...tea time for me, will chat later. enjoy your evening.

Since we can enter two quilts, my second entry is this one...in the machine quilted category.

I made 3 of these for my grandsons for Christmas last year. This one in the gold and black, one in blue and white, and one in mossy green. 

This quilt measures 74 x 94 and is machine quilted on my Baby Lock Tiara with Fil- Tec Glide thread top and bottom. I bought this pattern on line.

This quilt measures 92x102 inches, and is made with Bella solids. I made this quilt along with a number of ladies who shop at our local fabric shop...The Fabric Cupboard in Moncton, NB.

They offer this QAL once a year to who ever wants to sign up. The pattern and fabric is a surprise until that very day!!!  We don't actually work on the quilts together, it is done on a monthly basis. I thoroughly enjoy this shop!!

WIP Wednesday

Here we are again....mid week, with all kinds of things going on. I've been spending my weekends outside helping my husband and 3 grown sons replacing the siding and windows in our home.  This has turned into a huge undertaking, but getting there!

For sewing projects....I have a few things in progress for you.

this one I started last week is now half hand quilted....

I have one more small quilt to quilt for this customer.

This next one is the commissioned t shirt quilt...I've talked about earlier, being machine quilted on my TIara...

I just working a little bit here and there on it right now...just past the first quarter of this one.  It is king size and quite heavy, but going very well.

And last, but not least....a new commission. A full size quilt for a young girl...getting some of the blocks together.

I think it will be so pretty with these fabrics.This Kona white is a treat to work with.

I have three lap size quilts to hand quilt when I finish the one at the top of this post, and three of my own.

WIP Wednesday/ Spring has Sprung!!!!

Nice to have this beautiful spring weather we are having right now.  I have been raking leaves off of my flower beds, and enjoying the gorgeous days.

Last week, I finished this customer quilt...

Hand quilted and finished it so she can put it in a show!!!

This week I have this t shirt quilt pieced and ready to pin baste for the Tiara...

Now this is a small portion of it...king size. I will have a full pic once I quilt it.

I have this one in the frames to hand quilt now...

And, I have started cutting fabric to make this quilt.

Not much of a picture, as I got in a hurry this afternoon to get these ready.

I have 3 more customer quilts waiting to be hand quilted, and 3 or 4 of my own...not sure just what I will do with them yet.
