WIPs have rolled so very quickly: This week I have a finish as well as works in progress to show you....The fan I hand quilted for a lady is finished:
I added a bit of a border to my RTQA top: still debating whether or not to add another. I would prefer it bigger,,,but?????
I am ready for the 'Holiday Lane Pillow' blog hop too.... a tiny peek for you.
Well; that is it for me this week....I have a commissioned quilt I have to get started right away...
I'll update on that as I go along. I will be linking up to Freshly Pieced and The Needle and Thread please join us and see all the wonderful WIPs for this week.
Have a wonderful day!!!
Your fan quilt is beautiful, I love the colors and the quilting.
ReplyDeleteThank you Cheryl.....your parcel is on it's way!!
DeleteI love the fan quilt...so pretty! And we do have snow..and a lot of freezing rain! Not nice!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Flo....I don't want any of that weather!! It is cold here a bit of ice on our pond.
DeleteI am one that is partial to border and I love samplers... and perhaps it is time for me to tackle the fan block - always have admired them, but never got around to making one!
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan; so do you think I should add another border or two? I have a mossy green and a pale gold solid out...but just can't decide....
DeleteYour work is always so precise! Have you ever made a t-shirt quilt? I have to make one by Christmas and am looking for some advice!
ReplyDeleteHi Jeanette...thanks for your wonderful comment. Yes, I have made a few Tshirt quilts....anything I can help with...I will.
DeleteI love the RTQA quilt. I think you would be fine adding another border to it. I would go with a lighter color so that one border stands out.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary...was thinking a plain soft gold tone.
DeleteYou have been busy:) I love both of your quilts...I really love the RTQA.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary Ann....appreciate it.
DeleteI haven't seen fan quilt yet. It looks pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteOh really?? this is an old traditional pattern...I can always email you a copy of one if you like. Just let me know.
DeleteYour fan quilt is gorgeous - and I can't believe you hand quilted that! That's something I've only attempted once and I quickly realized I was in over my head :)
ReplyDeleteAwwwwwwwwwe don't give up on it. It isn't difficult; just time consuming. But you will love it. And you can do it for sure.
Deletewow lovely work!
ReplyDeleteWell thank you very much
DeleteYour fan quilt is gorgeous and the RTQA will be very pretty as well especially once you do your magic on it :-)
ReplyDeleteLOL...thanks Sheila. I was going to add another border; just holding off. Not sure which fabric to use yet.
DeleteSince lots are weighing in on this, I would add another border. A pieced one would be beautiful, too. Lovely top! You are so prolific! And it sure is cold out! Forced myself out the door for a walk this afternoon and my cheeks are still burning an hour later. Winter...ugh....
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer....I probably will add another border; thinking just a plain soft gold.
Deletelove your RTQA top, it's gorgeous! Thanks for linking up to WIP Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteI would add another border. I think quilters focus a lot on what a quilt looks like all stretched out, but on a bed, where it's used, the border hangs off the edge and you'd always rather have an extra few inches to warm up with!
ReplyDeleteI think I would add a darker border so it sort of fades off, but that sampler is so pretty you won't go wrong!
Thank you for your input...it is nice to hear from folks on these things. Sometimes I know exactly what I want; other times, don't have a clue..lol
DeleteYour sampler quilt is so pretty, Marjorie!
ReplyDeleteI think a mossy green border would be lovely, but the gold would really coordinate with some of the blocks - hard decision for sure!!!
LOL....we are thinking exactly alike Michelle...lol. Thanks for stopping by; you know I love to joke with you.
DeleteI could see a border that was the same as the sashing. Then it would look like a continuation of the quilt.
ReplyDeleteHi Holly; I know that would be good..just trying to stay away from more white. But you are right.
DeleteVery nice finish and all handquilted! Your sampler quilt is great, love it but I'm not good at making decisions for borders, but lots of advice already.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peg....I 'm not good with the decisions either...lol. Thanks for visiting.
