I can't believe it's been a whole week since I last posted something.....not getting much quilting done; I'm afraid.  I am still splitting hardwood and cleaning flower gardens up for winter. Planting tulip bulbs today..probably again tomorrow. I am staying inside for a couple of hours this afternoon to quilt..I need a fix!!!lol....We went out to a dinner and dance on the weekend..they draw for lots of prizes at this one. I did manage to win one of the bigger prizes; which was nice...and saw a lot of folks that I haven't seen in a while. So over all; a good weekend...hope everyone is enjoying the fall weather...it is so nice out there.....

Thanksgiving

Well; the beginning of another week....my family all work today so; I am piling wood and catching up with housework. Just came in for some lunch and wanted to share my weekend with you. My husband took me to a little place called Solomon's Gardens...not far from Moncton; but I never knew it existed. It is a very nice place where you can hold a wedding or I suppose just about anything celebration. The owner rents the gardens out..and there are huge white tents for the catering..lovely place. We walked through it and took a few pictures. It was a bit cool and windy; but a very nice day.I've included a couple pics for you to see...

Enjoy your Thanksgiving; here in Canada....have a nice day.

Life After the Turkey Supper...

It is a new day...the sun is shining..and I am waiting for the grass to dry so I can mow for the last time this season...what a shame..but it has to come to an end eventually; right.  I have been quilting tops for a lady..I think I mentioned it back there somewhere.  Well 2 are quilted; one is bound..so I thought I would share the pictures of those 2 for now....I will probably put the third in the frames later today and start quilting on it soon. Now is the time for me to finish the lawns; trim back some of my plants for winter...as much as I hate to see them go...but hey; more time to quilt!!!

Turkey Supper

Well it is over for another year!!..We had a blast,too...it is certainly a good way to meet people; even new neighbours in the community. Let me see now; we were at the hall by 8:30am on Saturday morning...cooking potatoes for stuffing. We made the stuffing..got what we could put out on tables..picked up the donations from the community.....and believe it or not; I got wounded while doing so.  This is so funny!! I picked up the pies and rolls with a friend in her van,ok....got back to the hall to unload; opened the sliding door of the van...stuck my head in picked up some pies; turned around and the door closed on me; hit me just above my right eye.....well!!!! Did that hurt or what???? LOL...So; inside I go to the freezer; got out a bag of frozen turkey necks ...lol....yes that is right.....held it over my eye for a bit..then went on my way....continued working......everyone went home for lunch;...and to clean up for later...this is at noon.....We are back for 1pm..putting rolls, pickles, cranberries, etc. on tables....now making coleslaw...we are suppose to start serving at 3pm..

It is 2pm. ...and the parking lot is filling up...so we are ready and start serving about 2:40..the rush is on!!!LOL...We had a great time..we served around 500-550...not sure of the exact count yet. Then clean up...over all a very long day....and by now my eye is starting to turn colours....oh well...lesson learned!! Keep my head out of the way of the door on a van...This morning we went back up to the hall and finished cleaning pails that we stored food in.....ovens..burners..floors,etc. Done for the year!!!! It is a very nice community event...and folks look forward to it each year....keeps the community together....and the money raised goes to a lot of maintenance on the building...which anyone in the community can use; no charge...and we rent it out.....we donate to the schools...nursing homes....hospitals, graduates in the area...fire victims...all sorts of things benefit from this event.....good for all....

Ohhhhhh!!! and this morning I cut my thumb on a broken glass that was put in the gabage...lol...I can't win!!How am I going to quilt later????? I bet I will manage.....haha!!Now I have to get some work done here at home for a change...it's been a week getting ready for the supper. So away I go....thanks for reading my little blog...is appreciated...

I removed the pic of the black eye....must be tired or seeing it...lol.....

Another Day of not Quilting....

It is the day before the turkey supper now...and boy; am I ready for it..lol.  I arrived at the hall at 8:30am.to find a couple of people there..the crowd soon grew, we had at least 20 people there to help peel the vegies.  We peeled 9; 50lb.bags of potatoes; the same carrots..some turnip..cut up cabbage for coleslaw...made a turkey soup for dinner.....sliced a heck of a lot of turkey...and there are more in the ovens. Now I am about to start baking pies...that will be my afternoon. Back to the hall tonight to finish slicing turkeys; crumb bread for stuffing..and home to sleep a little before starting the next ordeal...

In the morning; we meet at the hall at 8:30 to cook potatoes to make stuffing...pick up the donations from the community(pies,rolls,pickles,etc.)...then home for a snack; change of clothes...and back to serve supper from 3pm-7pm...I am tired already!!..lol. Seriously it is very tiresome; but a lot of fun too....I'll let you know how the supper went later...have a nice weekend...
