My Husband/Woodworking Show

I know this is not about sewing or quilting; though he has helped me there also. He has actually cut out fabric and pieced a couple of quilt tops for me. But on a serious note; he is so talented...and I just wanted to share a little bit of him with all of you.

What got me thinking about this is; the annual woodworking show is here in Moncton,NB this weekend. They had their very first show back in the 90s; don't ask me the year. I am no good with details..hubby could tell you right off; but not me. lol.  Anyway, my talented husband was the main attraction that first year....Here is a picture the newspaper came and took of him working in his garage before the show...
He makes snowshoes.....and is very good at it...it was so funny too.  When the guy showed up to do the interview; he expected a little old man; maybe a long beard....you know...lol...Merrill was only in his early 40s then....oh my; where has the time gone,eh.  He has made quite a few pair of snowshoes since then.

He started right from cutting down the tree; to lacing the shoe with a nylon rope used on fishing boats; it won't stretch when wet; you know. And the lacing is very hard on your fingers; I tried it!!  Now he hasn't made snowshoes in a few years; because he hasn't had the time lately, work is keeping him too busy.   But he enjoyed it while he was doing it.

Here he is standing in front of the hardwood he cut and piled in our basement...showing his nice new snowshoes....so proud of him. And wasn't he young and handsome...lol. I am bias you know..

He is a superintendent on road construction crews in Moncton; and works very hard to let me stay home and quilt.  I am very happy doing just that....so; you have met my husband.  I hope you enjoyed this little tid bit of our life.  And maybe a few of you will get to visit the woodworking show; who knows???   Thank you for reading my little post.
