WIP Wednesday/TGIFF

This has been a great week for me here...not in the sewing world, but gardens. Until today; it has been very decent weather. I managed to get all of my flower gardens cleaned out and looking not too bad..lol.

Projects this week consist of: Commissioned quilt finished
                                              A table runner finished
2 table runners to be quilted
                                               a bag to finish
Here are pics of the pieces:  Finished Quilt:
The table Runner:                                             I have a little visitor to show you...he was at my kitchen window a couple of days ago...so elegant to watch. He looks big here...lol.
The routine is to link up with Lee and Monika..will you join me in visiting the other blogs to see what wonderful work they have for us this week????  Now linking up to Pat at Colour Me Quilty.

Now I have a question.....does anyone know what would cause my FM foot to start acting up? Last week all of a sudden; I broke 4 needles...one right after the other. My machine said it was a thread tangle that stopped the motor...so I looked it over and finished what I was doing...very slowly.  Yesterday I sat down to quilt; thinking nothing was wrong.  Low and behold it stopped quickly again, but I was on the ball this time, and saved the needle in time by raising it.  Then I got checking more things out.  There was a hole punched in the toe of the FM foot!!!!  Apparently that is what broke my needles. But why all of a sudden was it hitting. I continued trying to sew; watching what was going on....things line up ok until I bring my bottom thread up; then the open toe shifts ahead and to my right.  Needle hitting!!  So; how did I break my open toe?????
Why does it all of a sudden not line up???    If anyone has had this happen; could you tell me about it....what I may have done.  I'm thinking if there was a thread tangle; it may have pulled the needle back to hit the foot. But why stay like that??? hmmmmmmmm...
Thanks

PS.....I found the problem!! After wondering and pondering; I took a closer look at the foot. It is cracked in the back just befind where it hooks on to the machine....darn!!! At least I know now,eh.  Get a new foot..lol

  1. Such nice work, Marjorie. Can't offer any help with your machine, but it sure sounds odd doesn't it! Hope you figure it out.

  2. Lovely pieces!

That sounds like a puzzling situation. It almost sounds like it is a bobbin problem. Have you removed the bobbin case, cleaned it out and then tried a whole new bobbin? That's where I would start.

  3. Sampler quilts are the foundation of all quilt learning and I love seeing all the different blocks! As to the FM foot, it probably has bent a bit. Things don't last forever and FM foots are not built the same as a regular sewing foot, the narrower shaft is susceptible to a bend. I have replaced my FM foot at least 3 or 4 times in the past 10 years...

  8. Yay for figuring out what caused the problem with your foot, but bummer that you'll need to get a new one. I hope you'll link up your quilt and table runner to TGIFF! this week. They look great, Marjorie! Lucky you to have that visitor! I bought a hummingbird feeder about a month ago, but I'm not sure there are any around here. I guess I'll put mine up and see what happens.

  13. Lovely projects and I'm glad you got your gardening in order. I'm know I'm happy to have my spring gardening in shape. Sorry to hear about your FM foot. It could be the tension, it can make your needle hit in places it shouldn't. Good luck!

Thanks for linking up to TGIFF! :)

  14. Glad to know you figured out what was going wrong with your foot because I`m having enough trouble learning to FMQuilt as it is so I`m absolutely not help to anyone else. :) Your finished quilt is lovely.

  15. There are some fascinating deadlines in this article but I don’t know if I see all of them middle to heart. There's some validity but I will take hold opinion until I look into it further. Good article , thanks and we would like more! Added to FeedBurner as well
